Role Overview A dynamic steel trading business is looking for a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join its finance function. This role sits at the intersection of commodity finance and operational cost control, supporting trading desk and management with accurate product costing, margin analysis, and P&L reporting across a high-volume international steel trading portfolio. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain cost model for traded steel products (HRC,CRC, sections, billets,ect.)
- Calculate landed costs including freight, duties, insurance, and financing charges
- prepare trade-level P&L reports and variance analysis for the commercial team
- Support month-end close, accruals, and inventory reconciliation
- Monitor hedging positions and commodity price exposure reporting
- Liaise with logistics, procurement, and treasure on cost input
Candidate Profile
- 5-10 years in cost accounting or management accounting in a trading environment
- Prior experience in steel, metals, or bulk commodity trading preferred
- Strong understanding of trade finance and incoterm-base cost structures
- Qualified accountant (CIMA,CPA,ACCA, or equivalent) preferred
- High attention to details with strong analytical and reporting skills
