About the Role
MetRecruit is partnering with a multinational copper mining company to place a Geotechnical Engineer at one of Chile’s larges open-pit operations. The successful candidate will provide geotechnical support for both open-pit slope stability and underground development, working closely with mine operations and design teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor slope stability in open-pit and underground excavations using instrumentation data (prisms, piezometers, extensometers)
- Conduct geotechnical mapping, data collection, and rock mass classification (RQD, GSI, Q-system)
- Perform slope stability analyses using industry-standard software (Slide,Phase2, FLAC)
- Develop and maintain geotechnical hazard registers and ground control management plans
- Provide geotechnical sign;off for drill and blast designs and underground development headings
- report geotechnical risks to the principal geotechnical engineer and mine management
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geological, Civil, or Mining Engineering with a geotechnical specilisation
- 3-6 year’s experience in open-pit or underground geotechnical roles
- Proficiency in Slide2/3, RS2, or FLAC 2D/3D
- Experience working in large open-pit copper or porphyry deposit environment preferred
- Fluency in English required, working knowledge of Spanish highly advatageous
- Willingness to work on a FIFO roster in a remote location
